Jo Harrison

Jo Ann R. Harrison, 75, of Waco, went home to be with her Lord Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Mrs. Harrison was born November 19, 1934 in Riverside, California to Arthur and Veda Ridley. She received her education in Riverside and Long Beach, California. Upon moving to Waco in 1952, she married her beloved husband, Wilmer Dean Harrison in 1957. She was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church where she worked for many years with the Acteens and GA's. She also served as an Adult Sunday School class director, Church Training Director and served on numerous boards.

Jo Ann retired in 2002 with nearly 20 years of service with McLennan County working in the Tax Office Automobile Department and for County Judge Jim Lewis. She loved her work and serving the citizens of McLennan County. She was affectionately known as "Mama Jo" to her many friends and co-workers as she always took a personal interest in them and their families. Jo Ann loved life and people and was always helping others in need or prayer.

Jo Ann is survived by her loving husband, Dean of Waco; her sisters, Carol Cachet, Jeri Havelik and Kris Carnegay all of California; her aunt, Rose Ridley of Sun City, California; numerous sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and many dear friends.
