Jo Shand
Jo Lu Shand, of Waco, passed away Saturday, July 2, 2011 at St. Catherine's Center in Waco.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, July 5, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd, Waco with Rev. Richard Roland of Central Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - 8 p.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Jo was born June 22, 1933 in Winters, Texas to Robert Vernon and Jessie Irene (Chapman) Price. Jo graduated from Waco High School in 1951. She married Gene Charles McAninch, July, 1954 in Waco and they had five children. She married Ian Shand on July 13, 1972 in Waco.
She retired from Cox's after 18 years of service. She will be most remembered as a very giving person, always wanting you to have something to remember her by and her love to always look nice. Even up to her final days, she wanted to make sure that she was dressed up, makeup on, and accessorized even if it meant she didn't leave her room.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Ian Shand, her children's father, Gene McAninch, parents, daughter Gay Carol McAninch, son Marlin Carl McAninch, stepchildren, Sherron Kay Boyce and Steven George Shand, brothers, R.V. Price, Jr. and Billy Price and brother-in-law, Weldon Smith.
Survivors include her son, Mark McAninch and wife Thalia, of Lorena; daughter, Melinda Holcomb and husband, Mike of Crawford; son, Mike McAninch and wife, Lisa of Irvine California; her grandchildren, Josh McAninch of Leroy, Chris Holcomb and wife, Ashlea of Waco, Corey Holcomb of Crawford, Andrew and Amy McAninch of Irvine, California and Taylor, Trent and Travis McAninch of Lorena, and great-grandchildren, Tanner McAninch and Mallory Holcomb. She is also survived by her sister, Betty P. Smith of Waco, and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Price and Elizabeth Price, and many nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be her grandsons.
A special thanks to her dear friends, Marky Cantrell and Marilyn Londenberg for their many visits and friendship over the years and the staff of St. Catherine's Center, and Providence Hospice for their wonderful care.
