Joan Simonette, 70, of Waco, went to be with Jesus on March 17, 2023 at her home surrounded
by her family following her courageous battle with Liposarcoma. A celebration of life will be held
in her honor at Mighty Wind Worship Center at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 23rd, 2023.
Joan was born January 5, 1953 in Brooklyn, NY. She graduated from Brentwood High School in
1971. Her, her husband and her two young daughters moved to Waco, TX in 1983. She was an
active member of Church on the Rock and Mighty Wind, sewing costumes for Easter pageants,
leading the youth group, and speaking encouragement to her brothers and sisters in Christ.
She retired from Wal*Mart after over 30 years of service. She liked to brag that she was one of the first people hired for the Waco store. She enjoyed collecting magnets from her travels and her family always brought back pieces to add to her collection.
Joan married the love of her life, Bob of New York, in 1972 and celebrated their 50th wedding
anniversary in August. They had two daughters, Rachel and Jessica, who both graduated from
Waco High School. She loved participating in the booster clubs of their extracurricular activities.
She is survived by her husband, Bob; her daughter, Rachel and husband, Chris; her daughter,
Jessica and husband, Scott; her brother, Tom; sister, Ruth; sister, Diann; brother, William and wife,
Kim; nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and grand godchildren.
