JoAnn Harcrow Jay, 71 of Speegleville went to be with Jesus Thursday February 12, 2004, on her birthday, following a lengthy illness.
[b]Services[/b]
Services will be 10:00 am Monday at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Bailey officiating, pastor of Speegleville Baptist Church. Burial will be at the China Spring Cemetery.
[b]Visitation[/b]
The family will receive visitors Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
[b]Personal Life[/b]
Mrs. Jay and her husband H. B. Jay were married July 9, 1955. After retiring they were founding members of the Antique Pickers, a group of senior musicians who met for jam sessions, and to play at nursing homes and other senior activities.
Mrs. Jay enjoyed life and loved spending time with her family and friends, playing 42 and singing with the band. She was a loving, generous woman who exhibited grace and courage throughout her illness.
Mrs. Jay was the eight child born to the late John and Loreta Harcrow. She was born February 12, 1933 in Waco and attended Waco Schools.
[b]Survivors[/b]
She is survived by her husband, H.B. Jay of Speegleville; three daughters, Carla Johnson and her husband John Hines, Beverly Cook and her husband Mike of Waco, and Donna Yglecias; six grandchildren, Tammy Barrack, Ty Jay, Michael Cook, Ashley Cook, Joey Yglecias and Macy Yglecias; two great-grandchildren, Ty Jay, Jr. And Tori Jay; four sisters, Virginia Whisenant of Hewitt, Jackie and Bernard Lesmeister of California, LaFawn Purdy of Oklahoma and her "Sissy" Mary and Charles Cotharn of Speegleville; three brothers, Jim and Susie Harcrow of McGregor, Jerry Harcrow of Washington, and Harold "Bubba" and Doris Harcrow of California; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Dowdy.
