Joaquina 'Basie' Rangel, age 73, of Waco, passed away Sunday, January 5, 2003.
SERVICES
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Wednesday, January 8, 2003, at St. Mary's Catholic Church with Father Angelo Bertini as celebrant. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
ROSARY
The Rosary will be recited at 7 p.m., Tuesday, in the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel, 4520 Bosque, followed by visitation with the family. A memorial videotape will be shown during visitation.
PERSONAL HISTORY
Joaquina was born on July 14, 1929, in Waco, the daughter of the late Domingo and Maria (Fausto) Rangel. A lifelong resident of Waco, she was a homemaker and was a Catholic. She was devoted to her family, and enjoyed cooking and caring for them. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Carmen 'Carrie' Rangel and Ninfa DeLeon; and two brothers, Jessie Rangel and Cruz Rangel.
SURVIVORS
Her survivors include two daughters, Mary Frances Rangel of Waco and Karla DeLong of Denton; two grandsons, Korey and Korbin Parker of Waco; a brother, Joe A. Rangel and his wife JuanaMeja of Waco; two sisters, Faye R. Ortiz and husband Victor of Waco, and Frances Mary Rangel of Waco.
PALLBEARERS
Pallbearers will be Eric DeLong, Kenneth Parker, Paul Smith, Paul Ballesteros, Guadalupe Perez, and Gregory DeLeon.
The family will be at 925 N. 57th Street. After the burial, family and friends will gather at the St. Mary's Parish Hall for lunch.
The Children's Playroom at OakCrest will be open during visitation.
