Jodie Mosley Pollard
January 26, 1915 – August 15, 2013
Jodie Mosley Pollard of Waco, age 98, beloved husband and father, passed away on August 15, 2013. A graveside service will be conducted at Waco Memorial Park on Thursday, August 22, 2013, at 10:00 a.m., David Story officiating.
Joe was born in Dallas, Texas, to Benjamin and Bertha Pollard. He graduated from North Dallas High School, and he later attended classes at Arlington College. He served in the Navy during World War II as well as both the merchant marines and marine reserve.
Joe later married the love of his life, Nadine Robinson, on February 22, 1951. He worked for Western Electric Company (now Lucent Technologies) for a number of years as an installer and supervisor until he retired. Both loved and admired by his co-workers, it was said that, “If you can’t get along with Joe Pollard, you can’t get along with anybody.”
Joe served in various volunteer capacities for St. Timothy’s Episcopal Church, Lakewood Christian Church, the Boy Scouts of America, the Telephone Pioneers and Meals on Wheels. He enjoyed working with his hands and exercising. In his later years he could be seen in his neighborhood riding around in his golf cart several times a day.
He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings.
Joe is survived by his wife, Winnifred Nadine Pollard, of Waco; daughter, Leslie Pollard, of Richardson, Texas; sons, Craig Pollard of Waco, and Brian Pollard and wife, Jan Pollard, of China Spring; granddaughter, Kelsey Pollard; grandsons, Chad Pollard and Logan Pollard; and step grandson, Kyle Elkins.
The family wishes to extend their most heartfelt thanks to all of the wonderful neighbors, friends, volunteers and medical professionals who treated, assisted and comforted Joe during his last illness.
His cheerful, outgoing and friendly personality will be sorely missed by all. Rest well sweet Prince.
