Joe was born March 19, 1923, in Rowena to William and Olga (Till) Jost. He retired as a Master Sergeant in the Air Force in 1963 after 23 years of service, including proudly serving in both WWII and Korea.

After retirement, he was a nursing assistant at the VA Medical Center in Waco for 23 years. He also ranched and farmed 30 acres near Elm Mott. He enjoyed his time spent on the farm, and raised animals and poultry and grew gardens with all types of vegetables.

Joe has been a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bellmead for 48 years. He was a past Grand Knight of the St. Joseph's Knights of Columbus Council 7202 and past Faithful Navigator of the Monsignor J.J. Kearns Assembly 1109.

He dedicated his life to helping others, and worked tirelessly on numerous community service projects.

Working with the Knights of Columbus, he organized the first Bellmead Christmas Parade, and was proud that the tradition has continued for 21 years. This year, due to his illness, was the only time he has ever missed directing the parade.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Avinell Hensarling Jost, in 1988, and a sister, Helen Schlebach. He married Anna D. Jost on August 24, 1991.

He is survived by his wife, Anna; sons, Michael J. Jost and wife, Pat of Bulverde, and Malford L. Jost and wife, Penny, of New Braunfels; step-daughters, Carol Maxwell and husband, Henry of Fort Worth, and Rebecca Brenner and husband, Greg of Woodway; grandsons, David Jost and wife, Denise of Littleton, Col., Majors Steve and Kelly Jost of Nellis Air Force Base, Nev., and 2nd Lt. Michael Jost and wife, Amy, of Tyndale Air Force Base, Florida; granddaughter, Becky Jost of College Station; two great-grandchildren, Lauren and Dillon Jost of Littleton, Col.; four step-grandsons, and five great grandchildren.

The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will serve as pallbearers and honor guards. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the St. Joseph's Council.

Memorials can be made to the Remodeling Fund of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 1011 Boston, Bellmead, Texas 76705, or to the Knights of Columbus Scholarship Fund, PO Box 8453, Waco, Texas 76714.
