Joe Louis Nevarez
January 11, 1962 – May 1, 2024
Joe Louis (Or Louie as we called him) passed away at Ascension Providence Hospital on Wednesday, May 1, 2024. Visitation will be on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at OakCrest Funeral Home from 6:00-7:00 pm with the Funeral Service starting at 7:00 pm. To honor Louie, please wear Texas Rangers attire as he loved them so.
Louie was born in Waco, Texas to Fernando Reyes Nevarez and Maria DeLaLuz Martinez Nevarez. He was the youngest in his family (or the runt as one would say). He went to Waco schools and was a laborer in construction in his early years. Louie lived in the Mexia-Groesbeck-Hubbard area for many years doing various jobs, even preaching there for some time. He moved back to Waco and in his later years his health prevented him from working.
He loved going to Crossroads Fellowship Church and attended often. Louie enjoyed going out to eat with his nieces and playing bingo. He was a coin collector and loved the Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboys. Louie was never blessed with children, but he loved his nieces and nephews as his own.
Louie was preceded in death by his parents, Fernando and Maria Nevarez; brothers, Patricio Nevarez, Sr., Frank Nevarez, Sr., Fernando Nevarez, Jr., and Richard Nevarez; and sisters, Maria Perez and Christine Ramsey.
He is survived by his brother, Manuel Nevarez; sister-in-law, Patty Nevarez; many nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.
