Joe Urban
Joe Frank Urban, Jr., born October 10, 1927, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 23, 2016.
Joe, the son of Joseph Urban and Ella Sommerfeld Urban was born in Clifton, Texas. On September 5, 1948, he married Mary Elizabeth Pole.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, Mary; and daughter, Pamela.
He leaves behind son, Jeff Urban of Giddings; brother, Bobby Urban of Galveston; his grandchildren, Stephanie Gaston, Starla Johnson, Stacey Talley, and Theodore Karwoski; and six great-grandchildren.
He was known in the community for over 30 years for Mobile TV from 1967 until 2001. He served in the Air Corps and enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting in Colorado.
A visitation will be held Wednesday, April 27, from 5 to 7 PM, at OakCrest Funeral Home and cremation will follow; his ashes will be laid to rest at his home in Gholson where his heart, blood, sweat and tears have been since 1976.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to Gentiva Hospice or an organization of your choosing. The family wishes to thank the staff of Royal Manor and Gentiva Hospice.
