Joe Jesse Vela, Jr., passed away May, 9, 2016. Graveside service will be Friday, May 13, 2016, at 10 am at Oakwood Cemetery, Visitation will be Thursday, May 12, 2016, 6 to 8 pm, Rosary will be at 7 pm, at OakCrest funeral Home.
Joe was born May 13, 1962 to Joe and Mary (Mata) Vela, Sr. in Waco, Texas. He graduated high school and will be remembered as the friendly smiling man with sunglasses at Genie Car Wash drying vehicles.
He loved his family and was a good friend.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Crecencia Vela and brother, Maximo Mata Vela, step-father, Benito Zavala and step-brother, Antonio Zavela.
Joe is survived by daughter, Melissa Martinez; sons, Joe Jamie Vela, and Matthew Ray Vela; granddaughters; Aylaya Jamie Vela, and Nahlia Ginger-Lee Martinez; sisters, Helen Joiner and husband Rickey, and Maria Olvera and husband Eduardo; brother, Gilbert Mata Vela and wife Tracy Lynn, former wife, Connie Alonzo and step-son Marcos Alonzo.
