John Davis Duncan, 74, of Robinson, went to be with the Lord Thursday, Nov. 3, 2012. Memorial service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, at The Episcopal Church of The Holy Spirit with the Rev. John Wells officiating.
John was born in Groesbeck to John Robert and Hattie Mae (Davis) Duncan. He was a 1956 graduate of Yoe High School in Cameron and in 1961, he married the love of his life, Ann Johns Swift. While working full time at the local newspaper, he earned his degree from Abilene Christian University. He then became a Pharmaceutical Sales Representative for Ciba-Geigy, now Novartis, where he was employed for 25 years.
John was a long time member of The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. He served on the church vestry and taught Christian Education Classes. He cooked for The Brotherhood of the Pasta, where he served many meals to the church family. John always had a smile on his face, was quick to laugh, had a witty sense of humor and never met a stranger. John was the most loving, compassionate, husband, father, uncle, grandfather and friend anyone could have. All who knew him had the utmost respect and fondness for him. He enjoyed playing golf, poker, watching football, spending time with his grandchildren and being with his family and friends. Most of all, he loved taking care of Ann, his beloved wife of 51 years. Everyone he touched during his life will miss John deeply.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife, Ann; daughter, Laura Betros and husband, Eric, of Robinson; son, John Davis Duncan Jr. and wife, Terri, of California; and grandchildren, Justin, Shannon, Josh and Taylor Duncan of California, and B.J. and Duncan Betros of Robinson; and brothers and sisters-in- law.
Many thanks to Bluebonnet Hospice for their loving and compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit, 1624 Wooded Acres Dr., Waco TX 76710.
