John K. Ihrie, 84, of Waco passed away Sunday. A private memorial service for his family will be held later.
Mr. Ihrie was born in Kendallville, Indiana to Arthur Ihrie and Clara Atkinson Ihrie. He married June Thurmond April 10, 1948 in Detroit, MI. John was a Army and Air Force veteran of WWII. He was a radio and television newscaster.
He was news director at KCMO in Kansas City, MO. John belonged to the American Federation of Television and Radio Artist; News Directors Assn and was a member of Parkview Baptist Church.
Survivors are his wife, June of Waco; sons, John K. Ihrie Jr., of Corpus Christi, James K. Ihrie of Banning, California, Joel K. Ihrie of Waco; and great grandson, Jonas K. Ihrie.
