John Jones
John Paul Jones, II passed away Friday, June 19, 2009. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday, June 22, at Rosemound Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
John was born October 18, 1944 to Miriam Golding and John "Jimmy P. Jones. He worked for more than 35 years for Waco ISD and Baylor University athletic events. John was also employed with The Regis and St. Elizabeth Centers. He donated many volunteer hours to the Friends of the Waco/McLennan County Library Association of which he was a member. For the last twenty years, he was a volunteer for the Waco Hippodrome Theater where he was named "Volunteer of the Year" twice. John was a lifetime member of the Waco Coin Club and held many positions in the club. He was also a member of the Heart of Texas Stamp Club and a member of the Sul Ross Senior Center where he had many friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
John is survived by his cousins, Sam Harris and wife, Doris of Woodway and Lillian Riley of Dallas; second cousins, Carter Harris and wife, Sheila of Waco, Jan Wiftman and husband, Mike of Royce City, Tx., Ann Sullivan and husband, Greg of Dallas, Edith Peinado and husband, George of Plano; and several third cousins. John is also survived by lifelong friends, Herbert Lovell and wife, Judy of Waco, Susan Armstrong of Denton, Sharon Bounds and husband, Bill of Denton and Linda Lovell of Mesquite who all grew up and went to school together and were like part of his family.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Providence Hospice, 4830 Lakewood Dr., Suite 2, Waco 76710.
