John Thomas Pippin, beloved son, brother, uncle and friend, passed away on the morning of December 12, 2015. A memorial service is scheduled at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, December 17 at Waco Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel with a visitation time to begin at noon. A private graveside service will follow.
Born in Waco, Texas on May 28, 1948, this blue eyed red headed baby immediately stole his parents‘ hearts.
Johnny graduated from Midway High School in 1966. Two years later, he joined the Navy. From 1968 - 1972, Johnny served his country as a Radioman on the USS Strong.
Johnny’s love for family was fierce and loyal. Mom was his first love and he never quite let go of the apron string. He was completely devoted to her. It was Johnny who stepped in and took care of the McFall place after our dad passed. He was the one on whom we all depended to keep Mom safe in her home.
His three nephews and one niece brought him much joy. From mowing with Eric, fishing with Chuck, sharing music with Kyle, and offering comfort to Meredith, Uncle Johnny made memories for them all.
He's the brother who has had more lives than any cat we have ever known. The one who has given us enough stories to fill several volumes! The one who could make us laugh and the one who could make us want to pull every hair out of our head.
Johnny was preceded in death by his dad, John Daniel Pippin. He is survived by his beloved mother, Earlene Taylor Pippin; sisters, Peggy Pippin Thomsen & husband Glenn and Mary Luther; brother, Danny Pippin; three nephews, Eric John Thomsen, Kyle Bishop Thomsen and wife, Rachel Grove and Chuck Daniel Pippin; one niece, Meredith Ann Pippin; a great nephew, Gage Daniel Pippin; and great niece, Ardis Hope Grove-Thomsen.
The family would like to thank Woodland Springs and Greenview Manor for the loving care they provided for Johnny over the past 4 1/2 years.
Memorials may be made to Woodway First United Methodist Church Music Fund or Fuzzy Friends Rescue.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Thomsen, Eric Thomsen, Kyle Thomsen, Chuck Pippin, Mickey Williams and Rick Keyson.
