John Taylor
John Arthur Taylor, 67, of Woodway, passed away suddenly Saturday, November 20, 2004, at his home after a brief illness. A private service will be held later.
John was born January 22, 1937, in San Antonio, to Roy Lee and Lucille (Metzger) Taylor, the second of two sons. John joined the Navy soon after graduation from Paschal High School in Fort Worth. Following four years in the Navy where he was an airborne radar operator with VF13, he began college and graduated from North Texas State University in 1963. He began a short career as a high school teacher and coach, serving in Azle, Richland Hills and Fort Bend schools districts. He loved the interaction with young people.
In 1968, he began a 25 year career with Schering Plough Corporation, working in Houston, San Antonio, Orlando, Corpus Christi and Baton Rouge. He was very successful as a salesman and among many awards was named National Distinguished Salesman in 1974. After retirement in 1993, John returned to teaching as a substitute in Martin County, Florida, and continued in pharmaceutical sales as a contract salesman for several national companies in Florida and finally in Waco.
John married Caroline Evers on December 28, 1963. They became the proud and doting parents of three sons. John was preceded in death by his parents, a son, John Jr., and a sister, Margaret Ann Wood.
He is survived by his wife, Caroline; sons, Robert Taylor and wife, Kathy; Carlton and wife, Gwen, and Damon; a brother, Lee Taylor and wife, Rosemary; and six grandchildren.
