Johnny D. Japort
May 15, 1946 – July 12, 2014
Johnny Dale Japort, 68, of China Spring, went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, July 12, 2014. A Celebration of life service will be held at 10:00am, Wednesday, July 15, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Farmer officiating. Burial will follow at Central Texas State Veterans Cemetery, 11463 State Hwy 195, Killeen, Texas. Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 14 from 6-8 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Johnny was born May 15, 1946 in Lawton, Oklahoma to John Japort and Dorothy Marie Davidson. He graduated from Lawton High School in 1965 and received an Associate’s Degree in automotive and heavy mechanical equipment from Central Texas. He was a Korean and Vietnam vet in the Army and spent 20 years of active military service. He then spent another 20 years civil service for the Army before retiring in May of 2007. Johnny was a loving Husband, Father, Uncle, and friend to all. He always had a smile on his face and a skip in his step. He enjoyed being outdoors hunting and also loved working with his hands. You would often find him in the garage working on cars, which was his passion and love. He was always available to family and friends to help with whatever was needed.
He was preceded in death by his parents; John Japort, and Dorothy Leopard, 1 brother and 1 sister.
Johnny is survived by his wife Betty of 42 years, daughter Stephanie Trowbridge, son Johnny Japort Jr., son in law David Trowbridge, and many extended family and friends.
