Johnny T. Gonzales

March 20, 1947 – April 8, 2021

Johnny T. Gonzales passed away on April 8, 2021. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 15, at St. Louis Catholic Church by Father Ryan Higdon. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 6 - p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard, with a Rosary Service at 7 p.m.

Johnny was born in Waco, Texas to John and Eloise Gonzales. He became a hard worker at a young age and held various jobs at A.O. Smith, General Tire, Southwestern Bell, and Time Warner. He was married to his heart’s treasure, Gloria Jean, for 52 years and had three children.

Johnny was a devoted and adored husband, daddy, grandpa, godfather, father-in-law, big brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and faithful friend. He was a compassionate and giving person, always willing to lend a helping hand to family, friends, and neighbors. His true pride was his family, from the youngest to the oldest. He loved to read and was very knowledgeable. He enjoyed going to the races at the Heart of Texas Speedway and was once a driver himself. He coached little league baseball and soccer for many years. He cherished his wife, Gloria, and honored his vow of love to the very end. Johnny was patient, personable, quick-witted, intelligent, and an all-around good guy. Music played an important part in his life through good and bad times. But it wasn’t just about the music. To Johnny, it was about the words and the feelings behind them that could carry him to younger days, express pride in his heritage, and transcend him and his family to places that he dreamed of.

There are not enough words to say how special he was and how much he meant to so many people, our God-given earth angel who fulfilled his purpose and was called home to joyfully join those waiting for him.

Survivors include his loving wife, Gloria J. Gonzales, daughters, Melissa Marie Ybarra and husband Chris, and Jessica Janeen Alvarez, brother, Nick Gonzales, and wife, Lisa, mother, Eloise Gonzales, grandchildren Alexander, Anthony, Sammy, and Sunny, sisters-in-laws, Delores Yanez, husband Jaime, and Evonne Fraga, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
