Jon Andrew Reeves, 27, of Waco, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2007. Services will be at 2 pm on Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., with the Rev. John Wells officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 pm Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home. A memorial video honoring his life will be shared during the visitation.
Jon was born September 19, 1979 in Clifton to Mike and Ann (Bordelon) Reeves. He was a member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church. Jon graduated from Reicher High School in 1998, and he was listed in Who's Who in Sports in 1994 and 1995. He was the state Pole Vault Champion in 1997.
Jon attended Sam Houston University and graduated from Commonwealth College of Funeral Service. After graduating, he worked for a large funeral home group in New Orleans. When Katrina hit, he returned to Waco and worked for Waco Mortuary Service.
As a funeral director and embalmer, Jon made many home removals for local funeral homes and he was constantly praised by families for his warm smile, gentle disposition, and sincere kindness.
Jon was preceded in death by grandfather, Tyrus Bordelon; grandmother, Sarah Reeves and his beloved boxer, Rouge.
Jon is survived by his mother, Ann Reeves of Speegleville; father, Mike Reeves of McGregor; sister, Jennifer Jones and husband, Jeff of Waco; grandmother, Laura Bourdelon of Groesbeck; nephew, Tyler Jones; uncle, Danny Reeves and wife, Patricia of Green Bay Wisconsin; cousins Capt. Allan Jaster of Iraq and wife Lisa, Kevin and Randy Pearson of Madisonville, Mandy of New Jersey.
Memorials may be made to the Shriner's Crippled Children Hospital.
Pallbearers will Terry Owens, Jeff Jones, Kevin and Randy Pearson, George Jaster, Mike Reeves, and Tyrus Bordelon. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeff Jones and all area funeral directors and embalmers.
