Jose Luis Aguado, 70, of Waco, Texas passed away peacefully on February 3, 2024.
He was born to parents Juan Aguado and Guadalupe Aguado Rosas on January 29, 1954 at Rancho Santas Marias near San Migual de Allende, Guanajuato, in the country of Mexico.
Luis grew up on a ranch, worked for several years in the capital Mexico City, then went to Texas in his early 20s. He found employment as a construction worker working for several companies. Most of his time was spent working with H & B Contractors located out of McGregor, TX.
Luis became a permanent resident of the United States.
Luis and Veronica Koontz celebrated the Sacrament of Matrimony in a Bilingual ceremony at Sacred Heart Church in Waco, Texas on May 23, 1992 with Fr. Lawrence Soler of Spain officiating.
Their daughter, Graciela was born on July 12, 1993. As she is a child with Down Syndrome, it was Luis' and Veronica's choice to raise her at home.
The three of them shared a wonderful life as a family for 30 years. Luis (Papa) had a very special relationship with his "Chela" where he spoke to her mainly in Spanish, and Mama spoke to her mainly in English, but was fluent in Spanish as well. "Chela" was Luis' delight and the two of them had a very affectionate bond between them.
As a family they prayed together in the morning as Catholics in Spanish and English.
His personality was one of loving life and having a strong belief in God as well as having a devotion to La Virgen de Guadalupe, Patroness of the Americas.
Luis always had a "chili garden" as well as cultivated tomatoes every year. Luis' passion was playing soccer on various teams in Waco, one of them being Allende. His favorite team to watch was Chivas of Guadalajara, Mexico. His tastes in music ran from music from the north of Mexico, Ranchera, Cumbia (He was excellent in dancing the cumbia), Mariachi music of Pedro Infante and Vicente Fernandez as well as many groups he and Chela would listen to on the radio when they were in the car together. One favorite song of his was "Farolito" (Lamp post) played and sung by the pianist Augustin Lara.
Luis is survived by his loving wife, his precious daughter, and brother, David here in Waco, TX. There are also surviving brothers and sisters in Mexico.
He had many friends from Waco who knew him from soccer, church, and from other places.
