Joe Nemmer

Joe Nemmer, 80, of Waco, passed away May 13, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. Services will be Tuesday, May 21st 12:30 pm at St. Louis Catholic Church, followed by burial at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation and rosary will be Monday, May 20th from 6-8:00 pm at Oakcrest Funeral Home.
Joe was born September 12, 1943 in Waco, Texas to Joe and Agnes Nemmer. He attended St. Mary and Waco Catholic schools. He graduated from Hill Jr. College with his associate degree in engineering and began working at Tom Cuff Electric. In 1974, he took the biggest risk of his life and started Nemmer Electric where he actively remained president until his death.
Joe was born with a love of flying and got his pilot’s license when he was 16 and continued flying for the next 50 years. His true love and passion was flying the A-26 Spirit of Waco. He flew over 600 airshows over 25 years. To say he was respected in the aviation world would be an understatement.
Joe was a leader throughout his life, serving as president of Northern Little League, where he also coached; Commodore of Ridgewood Country Club Marina; Commemorative Air Force Chief of Staff; various rolls in Association of General Contractors; chaired numerous air shows. Other passions of his were his Harley Davidsons, scuba diving and gun collecting.
On August 26, 1965 he married the love of his life Janice Breedlove and they had 2 children. His role as husband, father, and grandfather was his greatest love and joy.
He was the oldest of 4 children and had a strong role in each of his siblings’ lives, especially his baby sister Annette, who he raised as his own.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Janice; son, Jody; daughter, Melissa; and granddaughters, Analysa Nemmer, Maelyn Brewton and Charley Brewton.
Pallbearers will be Stan Brenner, Terri Smith, James Hyde, Shayne McFall, Johnny Binder, Dan Henderson, Lanny Peavey, and Tom Wolfe.
Honorary pallbearers will be his Nemmer Electric family.
