Joseph “Joe” R. Kay, 72, of Waco, passed away Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013. Services with military honors will be 1 p.m. Friday at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery in Killeen. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Joe was born in Anderson, SC, the son of the Jerome and Josephine Kay. He served as an Airman in the U.S. Air Force. Afterwards, he attended the University of Texas at Austin. He worked in Sales most of his life. Joe loved sports especially watching Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Joe is survived by his beloved wife of 51 years, Jo Ann Kay, of Waco; his adored children, Keith A. Kay and wife, Ellen of Keller; Laurie D. Heath and husband, Peter, of Lake Mary FL.; Tamra L. Acierni and her husband Joe, of Waco and Libbie A. Toler of Austin.
He was the adored grandfather "papa" to Clint Toler of Waco, Ashlie McQuilken of Round Rock, Rhiannon and Austin Heath of Lake Mary, FL; Lance and Lucas Kay of Keller and Andrew Acierni of Waco.
He is also survived by one great grandson, Aydan Toler of Waco and sister, Patricia Grusendorf of San Saba. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
