Dr J. C. Littrell, 87, of Waco, passed away Friday, October 5, 2007.
Graveside services will be 4:00 pm Wednesday, October 10 at Waco Memorial Park with Msgr. Mark Deering officiating.
" Joe" was born in Ottawa, Kansas, July 29, 1920, to Joseph Collins Littrell, Sr. and Sarah Ruth Patterson. He was reared in Iola, Kansas, where he met and married his beloved wife of 65 years, Jane Brigham. He graduated from the Illinois College of Podiatry in 1942, then served 3 years 3 months and 14 days in the U. S. Navy. He moved his family to Waco in 1951 and established a practice of Podiatry.
He was appointed by the Governor and served many years on the State Board of Podiatric Examiners. He practiced Podiatric Medicine 53 years, and enjoyed every minute, retiring in 2004.
He was a long time member of the Waco Rotary Club and was also active in Little League and Boy Scouts. Because of his encouragement, his three sons and five grandsons are Eagle scouts.
He was an avid supporter of the Baylor Bears ( " Just wait till next year." ). He loved music, especially Big Band, and supported the Waco Symphony. He played the trombone in the Shrine Band and participitated in more parades than you could count.
He liked to hunt and fish and drive his John Deere mower. He loved his family and friends. He had a great sense of humor, and always liked a good story and a good laugh. He was a dedicated husband and father.
His grandchildren loved him and called him "Pop." He had a great life and lived it to the fullest. He was part of the greatest generation. Thanks, Pop, for all that you did for us. We love you and will miss you very much.
Survivors include his loving wife Jane Brigham Littrell; daughter, Martha Farlow and husband Jack; son, Steve Littrell and wife Karen; son, Scott Littrell and wife Pam; son, Andy Littrell and wife Tracie; and daughter, Laura Sheehy and husband Trip. He had 12 grandchildren Carolyn, Lee, Mark, Jason, Michelle, Sarah, David, Katie, Allyson, Melissa, Christopher, and Rebecca. He also had 10 great grandchildren.
