Joseph Sanders

Joseph (Joe) E. Sanders, 69, of Waco, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 16, 2011.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 19, at OakCrest Funeral Home with Pastor Duane Hoxworth officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 p.m. - 2 p.m. prior to the service.

Joe was born in Gary, Indiana, and served in the U.S. Navy. Most of his life he worked in the insurance industry. Joe was a people person who was loved by everyone.

In later years, he worked as a People Greeter at the WalMart in Woodway before his illness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Georgia (Hamilton) Sanders.
He is survived by his long time companion, Rose Johnson; daughter, Dawn Farquhar; and granddaughter, Halle Farquhar.

Pallbearers will be Mark Evans, Kenny Allen, Jerry Johnson, C.R. Johnson, Clinton Johnson III, Dusty Johnson, and Jake Johnson.

Joe's family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Courtyard at Hewitt, Providence Hospice and his many physicians who cared for Joe during his lengthy illness.
