Joy Ruth Combs Davis-Cagle

Joy Ruth Combs Davis-Cagle passed away on April 4, 2025 in Waco, Texas.

A visitation is scheduled for Monday, April 14, 2025 from 5-7 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home chapel. Graveside service will be 11 am, Tuesday, April 15, 2025 at Oakwood Cemetery with Rev. Charles Robinson officiating.

Joy was born on November 19, 1929 in Palestine, Texas to George and Ruth Combs. In early life, she attended Bastrop High School where she was a cheerleader. Joy worked for the Social Security Administration for 35 years before retiring. After retirement, Joy went back to work for the Social Security office as court reporter for the Administration Law Judges at ODAR. She was a member of Altrusa along with being a charter member of Cogdell Methodist Church in 1955.

Joy loved the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday season. She also enjoyed the company of her cats. Her hobbies included: dancing, traveling and cooking gourmet meals for friends and family. Joy was also a season ticket holder for many years supporting Lady Bear Basketball. She loved all things Baylor and the Texas Rangers.

Joy was preceded in death by her parents, George and Ruth; husbands, Wilton L. Davis and then later Bill Cagle; daughter, Karen J. Davis; beloved brother, Jack C. Combs; and grandson, Mason L. Davis.

She is survived by her son, Larry and wife, Kim; grandson, Paul and wife, Megan; along with many family members, friends and extended family at Stillwell Retirement Center and Right at Home Health Care.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Fuzzy Friends or Cogdell United Methodist Church.
