Joy Parsons, 93, of China Spring, passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012. Graveside services will be 9:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21 at the China Spring Cemetery with the Rev. Mike Copeland officiating. Visitation with her family will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Mrs. Parsons was born November 11, 1918 in Lipan, Texas to R. C. “Bob” and Eleanor Elizabeth Dyer. She married Derwin Dalton Parsons the 12th of July 1940 in Sidney, Texas. She was employed at the Sears store in Waco for over 19 years and later worked for the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department for over 9 years. Later in life, she and her husband, D.D. worked for the US Corp of Engineers where they worked as gate attendants at area parks in Whitney and Proctor and also Speegleville Park at Lake Waco.

She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star and 4H Clubs. She was a member of the 1st Baptist Church of China Spring.

Mrs. Parsons was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, D.D.

She is survived by her son, Mike Parsons of China Spring; daughter, Jerry Talbert and husband, Gary of China Spring; her brother, R.C. Dyer of Bandera, Texas; grandson, Lane Talbert and wife, Kellee of LaVernia; two granddaughters, Amy Talbert and husband, Aaron of China Spring and Dena Jill Childs of Bruceville; her great granddaughter, Jenna Talbert; and her beloved dog, Missy.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Hillcrest Hospice for the care of their mother.
