Joyce Boyd

Joyce Helen Boyd went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at a local hospital.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the Waco Memorial Park Mauseleum Chapel with the Rev. Bill Pack officiating.

Visitation with the family will be Friday, October 3, from 6 pm to 8 pm at Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Joyce was born July 29, 1927 to Doyle and Earle (Emmons) Harrison in Fairfield. After graduating from high school, she married Jasper Roland Boyd July 22, 1946 and made Waco her home.

She was a telephone operator and an estimate assigner for Southwestern Bell Telephone Company for 43 years. She was a member of North Waco Baptist Church, W.I.N.G.S., Telephone Pioneers, and volunteered for Sul Ross Senior Citizens for 20 years.

Joyce was preceded in death by her husband, J.R. Boyd; daughter, Melinda Boyd McBroom; and her parents.

She is survived by sons, Glen Dale Boyd and wife, Penny, of China Spring and David Harrison Boyd of Ft. Worth; brother, Bill Harrison and wife, Laura, of West Monroe, La.; son-in-law, Bobby McBroom of Waco; grandsons, Gary Dale Boyd and wife, Nina of Flower Mound, Dave Boyd II and wife, Mellissa of Ft. Worth, Nathan Boyd of Ft. Worth, Jonathan Boyd of Ft. Worth, Andrew Boyd and wife, Jill, of North Richland Hills; 4 great granddaughters; 1 great grandson, and a host of other family and friends.
