Joyce Karlik Petter, 72, of Waco, went to be with her Lord , Friday, April 11, 2014. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday, April 14, 2014, at St. Louis Catholic Church with Fr. John Guzaldo and Msgr. Henry Petter officiating. Burial will follow at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, 1400 Cemetery Rd., West, TX. Visitation will be 6 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 followed by a Rosary at 7 p.m. at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Josephine “Joyce” Agnes Karlik Petter, was born on March 1, 1942 in a farmhouse near Tokio, Tx, to Louis A. and Annie Divin Karlik. Joyce married the love of her life, Albin A. Petter, December 28, 1959. She was a graduate of West High School, where she was Valedictorian of her class.

Joyce earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology and Math and a Master’s in Education from Baylor University. She was a member of the faculty at TSTC Waco, where she was head of the OSHA Department. Joyce was an active member of St. Louis Catholic Church, where she was President of various organizations and part of the bereavement committee. She was also a member of the Beta Sigma Phi Sorority.

Joyce enjoyed various activities including; painting, reading, researching the Divin Family Tree and being an avid Lady Bears fan. She and Albin loved traveling, bird watching, and listening to their grandchildren sing and play guitar together. Joyce’s most treasured moments were spent with her friends and family, who will miss her caring love.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Melinda Louise Petter; in-laws, Albin E. And Louise Petter; and other close family, Sister Evangelista Karlik, John Petter, Bernard Petter, Dennis Sulak, Ronald Sulak, Mike Grimm, and Mike Petter.

Joyce is survived by her husband, Albin A. Petter; children, David Petter and wife, Cheryl, of Mesquite, Carol and husband, Dallas White, of Grand Prairie, Andy Petter and wife, Lucy, of Woodway; grandchildren, April, Jamie, and Chris Petter, Josh Casey, Travis, Tyler and Toni (Sevener) White, Jared, Nathan, and Jacob Petter; great grand-daughters, Karsen Petter, and Jane Sevener.
