Joyce Marie Sessler

Joyce Marie Sessler, 93 of Olathe, KS passed away April 16, 2025. Joyce was born June 28, 1931 in Waco, Texas to Rupert Purvis and Florence Herring Purvis. She lived most of her life in Waco attending Waco High School and working at the Waco Theater, Montgomery Ward, and the Texas Coffin Company. She met George Sessler at the Theater and they married June 17, 1948. Together they had one son, George Dale Sessler. They faithfully attended Woodway United Methodist Church and was involved with their prayer shawl ministry. She spent her final years at the Villages of Olathe assisted living in Olathe, KS.

Joyce was preceded in death by her parents, Rupert and Florence; husband, George Sessler; son, George Dale; brother, Wayne Purvis (Norma, deceased); sister, Margaret Purvis Wittner (Harold, deceased); and nephew, Keith Wittner. Joyce is survived by her sister, Carolyn Purvis Mounce (Jerry); nieces and nephews, Melinda Wittner Wink (Ken), Steven Wittner (Linda), Vickie Kelly, Don Purvis (Roxanne), Karen Beets, Virginia Kemp (Aaron), and Jonathan Mounce (Kelli); 21 great nieces and nephews; and 9 great-great nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at OakCrest Funeral Home, Waco Texas on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, from 6pm to 8pm.

Graveside service will be held at Oakwood Cemetery, Waco Texas on Thursday, April 24, at 10 am.
