Juan R. Salasar, 94, died Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2002, at a Waco nursing center. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 14, at St. Francis on the Brazos Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery. A Rosary Service will be conducted at 7 p.m., Friday, Sept. 13, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., followed by a visitation with the family until 9 p.m. The family will be at 2617 Colonial, Waco.
Mr. Salasar was born May 16, 1908, and was married March 25, 1933 in Chilton, to Blasa Morin. He was a member of the St. Francis on the Brazos Catholic Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Ella Gonzales of Lubbock, and Mary Salazar of Waco; and grandchildren, JoAnn DeAnda, Travis Salazar, Anna Hambrick, Cynthia Simms, Robert Bernal II, Gary Salazar, and Larry Salazar; 16 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-daughters. He was preceded in death by his wife, Blasa Morin Salasar, and four children, Jose, Maria, Domingo, and Manuel Salazar.
Pallbearers will be Gary Salazar, Larry Salazar, Tony Rodriguez, Pete Salazar, Johnny Morin, and Ray Montgomery.
