Karen Louise Blankenship Jenson, 52, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2009 at a local hospital after her battle with breast cancer. Cremation was arranged through OakCrest Funeral Home. The family plans to hold a Memorial Service.
Visitation will be 5 pm - 7 pm Monday, Jan 4, at OakCrest Funeral Home.
Karen was a deputy sheriff at McLennan County Sherriff's Office for 10 years, and also worked at the Lacy Lakeview Police Department and McLennan County Courthouse. She was a loving daughter, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, F.L. and Frankie Blankenship; and sister, Barbara Moody.
Karen is survived by her two sisters, Kathy Owen and husband, Dudley of Axtell, and Sandra Brooke of Waco; two brothers, Rick Blankenship of Waco, and Michael Blankenship and wife, Helen of Bowie; son, Michael Burdett of Waco; and loving granddaughter, Cassandra Burdett of Gatesville.
The family expresses special thanks to her brother-in-law, Denmon Moody of Axtell, friend Martha Schlosser of West, and the many doctors and nurses at Scott & White Hospital.
