Kathleen Ann Hinton, age 66, of Robinson passed away peacefully early on Saturday morning, December 2, 2023, after a long struggle with congestive heart failure, at Baylor Scott & White Hillcrest in Waco, Texas.
A rosary and funeral mass will be held at 9:30 am on Saturday, December 9th at St. Mary’s Church of the
Assumption in Waco with Fr. Fernando Saenz officiating. A private burial will follow at a later date.
Kathy was born in Staunton, Illinois on June 1, 1957, to Virginia (Brennan) and Robert Edward Cole. She
attended schools in Waco after the family moved there in December 1961. She graduated from University High School and on June 9, 1977, she married Wallace Hinton in Waco. The marriage was blessed with two beautiful children, Steven and Stephanie.
Kathy worked as church secretary at St. Mary’s Church in Waco, where her children attended school,
and as a secretary at the Texas Collection at Baylor University for many years. Kathy volunteered with
several worthy organizations in Waco, including as a church youth minister with Waco Family Abuse
Center and as a board member of the Texas History Fair competition. She loved learning and graduated from Baylor University in May 2012 with a Bachelor of Arts. Kathy was an avid reader of many types of
literature and collected children’s literature.
Kathy’s door was always open to family, friends, and future friends, and her table welcomed many for a
hot meal and hospitality. Her heart was big enough for us all, even though she didn’t mince words when you needed to hear some truth.
Kathy was preceded in death by her parents; her in-laws, Joanne and Wallace Edward Hinton, Sr.; a
nephew, Mark Kraemer; and several aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Wally; son, Steven Hinton; daughter, Stephanie Hinton; sister, Marilyn Kraemer and husband, Gene; sister, Susan Cole and husband, Tim; brother, Robert (Rob) Cole; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and great-great-nephews, along with many “adopted” children.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Waco Family Abuse Center at 3312 Hillcrest
Dr., Waco, TX 76708.
