For 10 years, she wrote a column, "Horse Sense", for the Waco Tribune Herald describing horse show events and results. She had a natural ability for sports, winning many championships in golf and bowling. She was a member of the Bosqueville Baptist Church and a former member of Park Lake Drive Baptist Church.
