Katie Myrle (Watson) Chatman, 85, of Waco passed away at her home on Friday, May 4, 2012.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Thursday at the Living Word Church. Burial will be in Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7 pm Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Katie was born November 20, 1926 in Lott to James Q. Watson, Sr and Sarah Kay Thompson Watson. She retired from the Bill Logue Juvenile Center after 23 years of devoted service.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, James Watson, Jr.; and two of her wonderful children, Lenard Roy Chatman, Jr and Evelyn Ann Chase.

Katie leaves to mourn her four loving children, Bertha Watson of Waco, Delois Jones and husband Robert of Waco, Roy Charles Chatman and wife Ruby Rene of Lawton, OK, Patrick Fairley and wife Michelle of Waco; seven grandchildren, Sarah, Keith, Ava Latice, Clarence, Shantavia, Ray, Tiffany; 7 great grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchldren, whom she loved dearly. She also leaves great memories with her siblings. Also surviving are two brothers, Thurman Watson and wife Maggie, Rev. Jack Watson and wife Betty; four sisters, Levon Hoyle, Clarice Currin, Ava Stokes and husband Ronald, Helen, all of Waco.

She also leaves a million memories with two special friends, Mother Gordon and Mother Bailey; and her last uncle of six generations, Virgil Brooks.
