Kelma Tadlock

Louise Adams Tadlock, 91, of Waco, passed away Saturday, June 1, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 5, 2013 at Austin Avenue Methodist Church. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation with her family and to celebrate her life will be 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Louise, better known as Lou or Weez, the oldest of four girls, was born in Thornton, Texas to Kelma and Homer Adams on Valentine’s Day in 1922 which also was her father’s 21st birthday. When she was 25 years old, Louise began a secretarial job at Austin Avenue Methodist Church that spanned 43 years. It would have been even longer had macular degeneration not forced her retirement at the age of 68. In 1987, over 500 people helped her celebrate 40 years of loyal service to her job and church home. Mrs. “T” served under ten pastors and was not only a skillful secretary, but extremely loyal to all of them. However, her strongest trait was simply that she loved her job and her church.

Lou was married to H. C. Tadlock, a retired Waco Police Department Sergeant, who died last year at the age of 98. Their years together were joyfully spent serving their church and community. A yearly vacation to Colorado or their favorite spot in the smoky mountains was something they relished. Family was a priority to Louie and Pop as they affectionately were called by their grandchildren. Their home was always open to both family and friends and was a haven to many over the years. This remarkable woman lived life to the fullest always seeing the glass as half full. With her charm and quick wit, she may have lost sight, but never her vision.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and beloved sister, Jean McNutt.

Those left to cherish her memory include her daughter, Phyllis Wieser of Waco; her son, John Tadlock of Waco; her devoted sisters, Jo Curtis of Grand Prairie and Sue Taylor and husband, T. R. of Waco; eight grandchildren, Vance Knowles, Carter Knowles, Stewart Knowles, Paige Leonard and husband, Dan, Collin Tadlock and wife, Jennifer, Brittany Tadlock, Nicole Chevalier, Preston Chevalier and wife, La Tona; and four great grandchildren. Also those who will fondly remember her are her loving nieces, Marsha, Judy, Pam, Debbie, Sammie Sue, Kim and Tracy and her dear nephew, Chris.

Pallbearers will be Vance Knowles, Carter Knowles, Stewart Knowles, Collin Tadlock, Preston Chevalier, Chris Colquitt, Kirby Hyden and Chuck Viladeval. Honorary pallbearers will be T. R. Taylor, Henry Wilson and Verdin Hill.

The family wishes to send their heartfelt thanks to Bluebonnet Hospice Care and to the staff at Groesbeck LTC for the care given our loved one.

Memorials may be directed to Austin Avenue Methodist Church or to the Texas School for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 1100 W. 45th Street, Austin, TX 78756. We were all so truly blessed to have this precious lady in our lives. Although we will miss her dearly, we celebrate her wonderful life.
