Kenneth Earl Cook, 63, of Lorena succumbed to lung cancer at home on Wednesday, May 16, 2007.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Tippit of Harris Creek Baptist Church officiating.
Visitation will be Friday, May 18, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque.
Ken was born on May 5, 1944 in Waco. Ken graduated from Lorena High School in 1962. He was drafted into the US Army and graduated third in his class from OCS at Fort Sill, OK, then remained to teach. He was honorably discharged as a first lieutenant artillery officer in August 1968. He was a 36 year employee with TXU, retiring in 1999. He then joined Power Control Systems Engineering, Inc. until he became ill.
He is preceded in death by his parents, C.T. and Edna Earl Cook; sisters, Dora Litton and Nelda Cook, and brother-in-law, Melvin Thomas. The family takes comfort knowing that he joins these in the presence of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.
He leaves behind many friends and family to treasure their memories of his indelible marks on their lives: his loving wife, Adonna Post Cook; his sons, Eric and his wife Allison and their two children Dalton and Hunter of Kaufman, Chris and his wife Karen of Houston, and Ryan and his wife Tamme and their two children Calla and Collin of Waco; in-laws, Ralph and Bess Post of Waco; brother-in-law, Alfred Litton of Robinson; brother, Clint and wife Beverly of Houston; sisters, Zelda Thomas of Flowermound, and Mamie Johnston and husband Clayton of Crawford; brothers, Dan and wife Denise of Houston, and Wilbur and wife Sherry of Lorena; brother-in-law,Jack Post and wife Susan of Longview in addition to many nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Clay Gowan and the oncology nursing staff at Scott and White Hospital for their expertise, care, and support, and VistaCare Hospice for their gentle and loving care of him in his final days.
The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Waco humane society due to his extraordinary love of animals, or the Harris Creek Baptist Church.
