Lacy Alvin Williams, 72, of McGregor, a loving husband, father that anyone would want and attentive grandfather and brother, passed away Tuesday, May 19, 2009 at the Waco Veterans Medical Center.

Funeral services will be 3 p.m. Friday, May 22, 2009 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with David Hunter and Curtis Holland officiating. Visitation will be 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Lacy was born June 30, 1936 in Washington D.C. to Paul and Nora Wyrick Williams. He spent his youth in Lickcreek, W.V. and Narrows, V.A. He enlisted in the US Army in July 1953 serving in Korea for 2 years. He trained as a diesel mechanic in Chicago with his cousins, Carl and Clyde Keaton. Lacy came to Waco in November 1959 and worked for his uncle at Jones & Williams Construction. Lacy married Jerre Callon on November 17, 1962 at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Waco.

Once established in Waco, he worked for various construction firms including Jones & Williams, Byron Contractors, Waco Construction Company and he taught Building Construction at TSTI before going into business for himself in 1972 by forming the Lacy A. Williams Construction Company and Jerre Rentals. He was a residential and commercial builder, realtor and real estate broker. He was also a Master Mason with Fidelis Lodge #1127 and Knights of Pythias Lodge #300.

Taking his cousin's good advice, Lacy and Jerre traveled for 10 years while his health was still good. Lacy took special interest in Confederate Battlefield sites. He also delighted in tracing genealogy for Jerre and himself dating back to the 1600's.

Lacy loved his family and enjoyed watching his grandchildren in their various activities. He also enjoyed Turner Classic Movies and watching and feeding birds.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ronald G. Williams; and infant grandson, Joshua Daniel Williams.

Lacy is survived by his wife of 47 years, Jerre C. Williams; daughters, Laura Williams of Waco and Kathleen Williams Posey of Meridianville, AL; sons, Michael Williams and wife, Amy of Robinson and Mark Williams and wife, Cassie of Lorena; sisters, Nina Olson and husband, Leo of Robinson and Mona Dunkin and husband, Garland of Waco; grandchildren, Kelli and Leslie Posey of Meridianville, AL, Aaron and Mackenzie Williams of Robinson and Jon, Brandon and Caleb Williams of Lorena; and many cousins and extended family members.
