Joyce was born on September 18, 1935 in Decatur, TX to Mae Byrd and Melvin Barrow. She retired from Therrell Alarm on September 14th, 2015 after thirty years as General Manager. Joyce was a hard working woman throughout her life and a very special person to all who were lucky enough to know her. She worked three jobs for many years while raising four children mostly on her own. She continually sacrificed for her children as she raised them and took great pride in being a single mom. Her children are and will always be extremely proud of her for being the best mom and friend anyone could ever be blessed with. She put her faith and family above all things. She always said that materialistic possessions mean nothing in the end and that the true meaning of life was to have a strong bond with God, family, and friends. Joyce was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Joyce was preceded in death by her son, Charles Williard Purvis, her parents, and her former husband, Williard Purvis.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory her loving children, Debbie and husband, John Bastian, Cathy and son-in-law, John Restivo, Michael and wife, Cheryl Purvis, and Tina and husband, Tom Brunette.
