Laverne Morris

Laverne Morris, 92, of Waco, passed away October 26, 2009. Memorial Service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, November 7, 2009 at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd., Waco, with the Rev. Bernie Sandberg officiating.

Laverne was born December 2, 1916 in Loveless to Roy D. and Lottie (Godbey) McWhirter. She grew up in Axtell, Texas and married William Browder Morris July 3, 1938 in Mart. Laverne was a former San Antonio resident and was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church there. She moved to Waco in 2001. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 68 years, William B. Morris, Sr.

Laverne is survived by her son, William Browder Morris, Jr. and wife, Tanya, of Ft. Worth; daughter, Diane Marrs and husband, Kent of Georgetown; sister, Mitzi Graves of Mart; sisters-in-law, Frances Moe of California and Ed Winnie McWhirter of Hondo; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
