Lawanda Louise Hill Raborn, 83, of Waco, has left us to be with her Lord. Services will be 12:30 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the OakCrest Funeral Home chapel with Rev. Harley Gordon officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 19, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.
Lawanda was born September 13, 1929 in Slaton. At the age of two, her family moved to Bono where she first attended school. She enjoyed beating the boys in kick ball most. The family eventually moved to the family farm near Rising Star. They spent many years there milking cows and planting crops. Lawanda moved to Waco in 1962 and enjoyed many years of church, bluegrass music, and gardening. After retirement she and her husband, Tom, loved to travel and camp all over the Western United States and Canada.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tom Raborn; father, Oscar Elmer Hill; mother, Nancy Lois (Aten) Hill; sisters, Geneva Hill Tucker, Patsy Hill Lyle, and Betty Hill Boyd; and step-son, Tommy Lloyd Raborn.
She is survived by her son, Ron Trussell and wife, Linda, of Waco; daughter, Darla Trussell Rainer of Waco; step-daughters, Annetta King of Rusk, Carolyn and Vern Russell, both of Odessa; 10 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren; sister, Sheila Hill Carroll of Cleburne; and brothers, James Hill and wife, Barbara, of Navarro, and Mickey Hill and wife, Joann, of Joshua.
Pallbearers will be Jimmy Woodward, Jimmy Hill, Paul McCollum, Steve Carroll, George Macalik, and Jason Buchmann. Honorary pallbearers will be Larry Raborn, Jessica Rainer, Jessie Carroll, Marlana Rainer and John Stephenson.
The family extends special thanks to Bluebonnet Hospice for the care given to Lawanda, especially from Chrystal and Shirley.
