Lea Armstrong, 86, of China Spring, passed away Wednesday, March 20, 2013 at her residence. Services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, March 23, at Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ, 2800 Lake Shore Drive, with Ernie Christie officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Lea was born March 3, 1927 in Fresno, CA to Henry Hubert Norris and Gladys Frances McGroom Norris. She married Ralph Wayne Armstrong on the 14th of February, 1959 in Sacramento, CA. Lea graduated from Abilene Christian University with a Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Education. She taught in public schools for over 20 years. Lea took time off to raise her children and once they were grown, she returned to teaching, retiring in 1992. Above all, Lea enjoyed being a wife, mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Jack Norris.
Lea is survived by her husband of 54 years, Ralph Armstrong of China Spring, TX; her children, Faye Paap and husband, Kees of Odessa, TX, Beth Armstrong of College Station, TX, Wayne Armstrong and wife, Silvia of Royse City, TX and Ruth Combs and husband, Jonathan of China Spring, TX; seven grandchildren, Connor Armstrong, Harrison Armstrong, Isabella Armstrong, Molly Combs, Suzanna Paap, Kailey Combs and Darian Combs.
Pallbearers will be Connor Armstrong, Harrison Armstrong, Jonathan Combs, Bob Gwin, Mike Combs and Sean Donaho. Honorary pallbearers will be Kees Paap, David Tollison, Steve Green, Darian Combs and Blake Donaho.
Memorials in Lea’s memory may be directed to the Lake Shore Drive Church of Christ or to Providence Hospice.
