Rev. Leandro Andrade Sr., 80, of Waco, went to be with the Lord Friday, Oct. 5. Funeral Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Oct 8, at First Spanish Assembly of God with Rev. Guadalupe Rodriguez officiating, and Rev. Maximino Rosas and Rev. Samuel Emiliano co-officiating. Burial will be at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. with a Prayer Service beginning 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, at First Spanish Assembly of God.


Leandro was born Feb. 27, 1927, in Hubbard to the late Guadalupe and Josefa (Rosales) Andrade. He served in the Army with the 95th Infantry. He was employed with the City of Waco, Waco ISD and Baylor University and also served as assistant pastor of Templo Cristiano Assembly of God for 18 years until he was elected Senior Pastor in 1988 and served until his retirement in 2005. His love for God and people and his passion for ministry influenced countless lives to a deeper relationship with Christ. Out of his ministry were birthed numerous ministries throughout the country and across the Mexican border. He was a man of integrity, humility, and loved by all who came in contact with him.


He was preceded in death by his parents; step-mother, Francisca Andrade; brothers, Placido Andrade and Daniel Cruz; daughter, Caroline and great-grandsons, Jaylon Leandro Andrade and Anthony Tyler Boyd.


Survivors include his wife, of 58 years, Lucy Andrade of Waco; children Eva (Rudy) Soza, Ruben Andrade Sr., Benny (Shelly) Andrade, Claudia Andrade, Leon Andrade Jr. all of Waco, Rev. Mary (Rev. Kerry) Roybal of Ogden, Utah, and beloved grandson and caretaker Ruben Andrade Jr.; twenty-four grandchildren; thirty-one great-grandchildren; sister, Sara (Robert) Martinez; brother Samuel (Margaret) Cruz of La Mesa, California; beloved sisters and brothers-inlaw and numerous nephews and nieces.


Pallbearers are Manuel Lopez Sr., Espiririon Molina, David Treviño Sr., Jesus Treviño, Jorge Treviño Sr., and Mario Treviño Sr..



Special thanks for the loving and professional care given by all the staff on the fourth floor of St. Catherine, Providence Hospice and Providence Health Center Heart Failure Clinic.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Family of Faith Worship Center 2225 Cumberland Avenue, Waco, Texas 76707 where he last attended and was pastored by his grandson, Ruben Andrade Jr.
