Lena Winkler

Lena Winkler, 94, of Waco passed away Thursday, August 27, 2015 in El Paso. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am, Monday, August 31 at St. Louis Catholic Church with Rev. John Guzaldo as celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Martin’s Cemetery in Tours. The rosary will be recited at 6 pm on Sunday, August 30, with visitation to follow until 8 pm at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.
Lena was born October 3, 1920 in Lott, Texas. She is the daughter of Joseph and Frances Michalewicz. Lena married Chris Winkler of Waco on Sept. 2, 1946.

Lena was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chris Winkler; brothers, Otto Michalewicz and John Michalewicz; sisters, Agnes Buxkemper and Mary Buxkemper; and youngest daughter, Sharon.

She is survived by one daughter, Sandra Oxner and husband Jerry of El Paso; one grandson, Gary Oxner and wife Michelle of Houston; great-grandson Zach Oxner of Houston; one brother, Albert Michalewicz; one sister, Annie Caldwell; two sisters-in-law, Christine Fryer and husband, Roland and Doris Winkler of Waco; and many nieces and nephews.
