Leona "Fay" Setzer

Upon the afternoon of October 14, 2021, Leona "Fay" Setzer slipped away from this Earth to her Heavenly reward. She entered into this life as we know it on April 20, 1932, on her family's farm near Hale Center, Texas. She was born the second of six children and was preceded in death by her sisters, Lucille Randolph, Ruby Jones, Joyce Shannon; and brother, Louis Randolph. After leaving Hale Center, her family moved back to Stephenville, Texas. She attended public schools in Stephenville and was a 1950 graduate of Stephenville High School.

While in Stephenville, she met the love of her life, Roy Walton Setzer in February, 1950. After a three month courtship, the couple were married on April 15, 1950. The happy couple then proceeded to move to several small towns around Central Texas with Roy's job with Asplundh Tree Experts. In 1955, the couple moved to what would become their forever home in Waco, Texas. During these early days of their life, she bore them two children, Royce Walton Setzer in 1951, and Rickie Fay Setzer (Smith) in 1954. They chose to settle in Waco for their childrens' education and so that she could start her lifetime career of becoming a hairstylist. She attended and graduated from Waco Beauty School in 1956 and started her career with Cottage Beauty Shop, then to Thompsons' Beauty Shop, and finally with Westview Village Beauty Salon. She worked in this field for over 40 years and absolutely loved every minute. Her job was a labor of love. In 1970, Fay and Roy moved to the family farm near Riesel, Texas, where they lived happily for the next 51 years. Her loving husband passed away in July of 2020 and she lived on until her passing some 15 months later. Even though her mind was confused by Dementia and Alzheimer's, she always told everyone she met that her husband was coming by to take her out for dinner that night.

Fay was a devout christian and a loyal longtime member of Herring Avenue Church of Christ, Lake Shore Church of Christ and finally with Crestview Church of Christ. Her faith was strong and she never wavered from her beliefs. She is survived by her son, Royce Walton Setzer of Chattanooga, TN; and her daughter, Rickie Setzer Smith and husband, Kent Smith, of Woodway, TX; two grandchildren, Michael Patti and wife, Shaina, and Shannon Jordan and husband, Richard; several great-grandchildren; and brother, Gerry L. Randolph and wife, Penny Randolph.

Go Rest High Upon That Mountain Mom, you've earned your Heavenly Wings for all of eternity.

Fay was laid to rest at Riesel Cemetery.
