Lewis Lawson Propst went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, May 3, 2023, at the age of 85.
Born in Waco Texas to D.L. and Garvella Propst.
He served 4 years of active duty onboard both the USS Lexington and the USS Shangri-La in the United States Navy. He served 16 years in the US Navy Construction Battalion (The SeaBee’s) as a Reservist and retired after 20 years of service. In addition to serving his country, he retired from Owens Illinois Glass Plant after working 38 years for the company. Post retirement he worked with R&R Survey Company. He was a devout member of the Brazos Meadows Baptist Church in Hewitt.
His favorite hobby was working on his 1946 Ford Truck affectionately called Hoopie.
Preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Wilda Mathis; brothers-in-law, Rusty Mathis, and Grady Thompson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Mary Propst; his three children; Michael Propst and wife Linda, Laurie McCoy, and husband JD, and Kelley Propst.
Lovingly remembered by his grandchildren; Amanda Bennett and husband Matt, Morgan Whiteside and husband Chris, Ana Arthur and fiancé Tau Broadhurst, Kendall McCoy, and Erika Arthur; his sister-in-law Mary Thompson; nephew Trey Thompson and wife Kim; niece Connie Schmalriede and husband Rodney.
He will be missed by his family and many friends.
