Christine Chandler Canada
July 24, 1927 – June 17, 2013
Lila Christine Hill Chandler Canada had her first meal with her Lord at the banquet table in heaven on Monday morning after several years of dealing with Alzheimer’s disease. She had spent the last 2 years of her life peacefully at Royal Manor Health Center. Visitation will be Tuesday evening from 6-8 pm at Oakcrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard. Graveside services will be at Fairview Cemetery in Hubbard, TX at 10:00 am on Wednesday. Rev. Chris Sammons will officiate.
Our mother was born July 24, 1927, in Hubbard, TX, to Homer and Della Hill. She graduated from Hubbard High School in 1943. She married the love of her life, Harold Ray Chandler, January 20, 1944. After raising her family, she began LVN nursing school in June 1970 and graduated in June 1971. She retired in 1989 from the VA Hospital in Waco. After the death of our dad, she married Lewis Canada in 1988. He died in 2001.
She is survived by her daughter, Pam Archer, sons, Larry Chandler, Bobby Chandler and wife Angel, and Dennis Chandler, all of Waco; eight grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and her niece, Alta Derryberry and her husband Bob of Dallas.
We would like to say a big thank you to the entire staff of Royal Manor Health Center for their tremendous care and love to our mother. You made things so much easier for her and us, especially during her last days.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
