Linda J. Jones, 68, of Hewitt, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013. Graveside services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, at Malakoff Cemetery with Rev. Roy Marshall officiating. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Boulevard.

Born February 11, 1945 in Malakoff, to John and Louise Shumate, Linda attended school and graduated from Malakoff High School with honors. Linda married John Richard Jones on August 3, 1963. Linda traveled with the love of her life from San Antonio to Colorado Springs, Colorado to RAF Mildenhall, England and to Alamogordo, New Mexico and was the prime example of an Air Force wife.

During John's many stations of service, Linda worked as a bookkeeper, volunteered for Family Services and was voted Volunteer of the Year, worked at Fort Sam Houston Bank, Western Bank, and Waco State Bank in Waco, Texas. Linda loved to work with her ceramics, was an avid Dallas Cowboys fan, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Hewitt.

Preceding her in death are her parents, John and Louise Shumate and brother-in-law, Norman Millican.

Linda is survived by her husband of 49 years, John Richard Jones; daughter, Lisa Czajkowski and husband Anthony; and son, Mark Jones.

The lights of her life were her grandchildren whom she loved dearly, Krysten, Scott, Jake, and Schuyler.

She is also survived by her siblings, Doyle Shumate and Polly of Maybank, Shirley Millican of Irving, Barbara Hearn and husband Jack of Star Harbour, Quieva Williams and husband Glenn of Gun Barrell City, and Mary Carter and husband Fred, Wayne Shumate and wife Rebecca of Palestine, Jerry Shumate of Irving, and Marsha Grant and husband Phillip of Plano; sister-in-law, Linda Chamberland and husband Bob of Waxahachie; and numerous extended family and friends.
