Linda Penney

Linda Lou Penney, 71, of Waco, a precious wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away Wednesday, May 19, 2010 after a battle with health complications. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, May 22, 2010 at the OakCrest Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Joe Bailey of Speegleville Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at Waco Memorial Park. Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Linda was born July 8, 1938 in Bowman to William Columbus and Oma Lois Yates.
She attended Penelope schools. In 1955, she married Thomas Penney and raised a family of four children in Waco. Linda had a wonderful gift of hospitality. She loved to cook for people. Anyone who came by to visit was always invited to stay for supper or at least dessert. Linda also loved working in her garden and growing fresh vegetables. She was a special woman who touched the lives of many people.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Jean Sealey and Sibyl Watson.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas Penney; daughters, Tammie Andrews and Misty Gauer and husband, Clark all of Waco; sons, Jerry Penney of Waco and Shannon Penney and wife, Krishna of McKinney; two sisters, Nadine Judd of Fort Worth and Margaret Davidson of China Spring; grandchildren, Lee Penney of Fort Worth, Ben Penney, Katrina Andrews and Trevor Andrews all of Waco and Andy, Caleb and Corrie Gauer, Hannah, Ella and John Penney; and great granddaughter, Aveah Andrews.
