Linda Joy Wood passed away unexpectedly but peacefully January 31, 2015 in Dallas, Texas surrounded by her son, William Hayner, Jr. and her sisters, Judy Wood, Jeri Cloutier and Jane Wood.

She is also survived by her brother, Joe Wood and sister, Jean Wood and her granddaughter, Natalie Tyler Hayner and step daughter, Andrea Castro.

She was preceded in death by her parents and beloved son, Joseph Scott Hayner.

She was a beautiful woman, loving and devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend.

Joy was born March 13, 1945 in Waco, Texas to Doris and J. Carroll Wood. She grew up in Waco and graduated from Richfield High School then went on to attend Southwestern University in Georgetown, Texas, Baylor University in Waco and the University of North Texas where she graduated with a degree in Interior Design. While at Baylor University she met and married William Hayner, Sr., the father of her two sons.

After raising her sons in Highland Park, she went to work for Joy Wood Interiors. She was a very talented decorator and completed many projects around the Dallas area for both commercial and residential clients. Joy also collected fine art and antique furniture and loved to spend time with her friends, whom she loved dearly and enriched her life in countless ways.

Joy will be remembered for her great sense of humor, kind and compassionate spirit and the love she had for her family and friends. She touched so many lives and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A graveside service for all friends and family will be conducted at Oakwood Cemetery at 11:00 a.m. in Waco, Texas on Wednesday, February 4, 2015 followed by a reception at Ridgewood Country Club in Waco, Texas.
