Linnie M. Jay Carpenter, 99, of Waco, passed away Saturday night, January 10, 2004, in a Waco nursing center.
[b]Services[/b]
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m., Wednesday, at China Spring Cemetery. Rev. Dan Preston will officiate.
Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque. A memorial video of her life will be shown during the visitation.
[b]Her Life[/b]
Linnie was born in Texas on May 25, 1904, to Julian and Mattie (Wood) Breedlove, and lived in Waco most of her life.
She was a member of Herring Avenue Methodist Church, and was active in women's groups there. Linnie was a very Christian lady who loved the Lord and who did many wonderful things for others in her lifetime.
She was a proud, independent woman who enjoyed life to the fullest. She loved flowers and enjoyed being a member of the Garden Club and Iris Society. She was an excellent seamstress. She liked animals, especially her longtime pet cat, Singh. She was also devoted to her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, H.O. Jay, and second husband, Marvin Carpenter.
[b]Survivors[/b]
Survivors include two sons, H.B. Jay and his wife JoAnn of Speegleville, and Wayne Jay and his wife Barbara of Waco; a sister, Larue Ashley of Frankston; sister-in-law, Dorothy Breedlove of Waco; nine grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren, and six great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
