Lloyd D. King, Sr., 84, of Hewitt, passed away September 11, 2008. Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at OakCrest Funeral Home with Rev. Curtis Holland officiating. Burial with military honors will be 2 p.m. Monday at Central Texas Veterans Cemetery. Visitation will be 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. Sunday at OakCrest Funeral Home, 4520 Bosque Blvd.

Lloyd was born in Pensacola Fl. to James and Ella King. He served in the military for 10 years, first as a sergeant in the Army during World War II and then in the Criminal Investigation Division in Europe after the war ended and when he returned to the states. He moved to Waco in 2006. He was a loyal member of the Lions Club in Camden, NJ as president, West Pensacola, FL as Lion of the Year, vice president and the Sight Clinic, and Hewitt as Tailtwister and director. He was a member of Cottonwood Creek Country Club.

He is survived by his wife, Marlene; son, Harlin King and wife, Elaine, and their children, Steven King and wife, Lisa, and Beverly Culp and husband, David, all of Waco, and grand children, Sterling King, Jake King, Robbie Monk, Tracer Carter, Mallory Culp, and Monica Culp; a cousin, Adrienne Zarahn and husband, Eddie; and numerous nieces and nephews; and another son, Lloyd D. King Jr. and wife, Jennifer, of Cherry Hill, N.J., and their five children, Kristen Tansey, Dana Boehm, and Caitlin, Danielle and Zachary King, and five grandchildren, Destiny, Jordan, Ethan, Brandon and Conner.

Pallbearers are Steven King, David Culp, Geary Stone, Sterling King, Jake King and Tracer Carter. Honorary pallbearers will be Hewitt Lions Club.

The family especially thanks Dr. Davis and staff of 3 North at Providence Hospital for their care.
